Data Analysis and Visualization for Healthcare Sales Channels

Introduction

In this project, I collaborated with a customer who sought to analyze their sales data across various channels within the healthcare industry. Their challenges included identifying specific healthcare facilities, understanding global purchasing contracts, and analyzing shipping addresses to gain insights into their market penetration. Leveraging Microsoft Dynamics AX 2013 ERP system, I conducted data analysis and visualization to provide actionable insights to the client.

Objectives

  1. Identify healthcare facilities and systems associated with sales orders.
  2. Establish parent relationships for sales orders to facilitate analysis by individual entity and healthcare system.
  3. Determine global purchasing contracts associated with sales orders.
  4. Visualize sales data by region, market, healthcare system, and year using Power BI.

Methodology

  1. Data Review and Integration:

    • Reviewed shipping addresses and sales orders data from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2013.
    • Created a middle table to link each order to a specific healthcare facility or system.
  2. Parent Relationship Establishment:

    • Developed a mechanism to establish parent relationships for sales orders, allowing aggregation by individual entity and healthcare system.
  3. Global Purchasing Contract Identification:

    • Analyzed sales data to identify global purchasing contracts associated with each order.
  4. Data Visualization:

    • Utilized Power BI to create visual representations of sales data.
    • Segmented data by region, market, healthcare system, and year to provide comprehensive insights.

Results

  1. Healthcare Facility Identification:

    • Successfully linked each sales order to a specific healthcare facility or system.
    • Facilitated granular analysis by individual entity and healthcare system.
  2. Global Purchasing Contract Recognition:

    • Identified global purchasing contracts associated with sales orders, enabling better understanding of contractual obligations and opportunities.
  3. Data Visualization:

    • Developed interactive dashboards using Power BI.
    • Visualized sales data by region, market, healthcare system, and year.
    • Enabled the client to grasp their market penetration and identify areas for growth.

Conclusion

Through thorough data analysis and visualization, this project provided valuable insights into the client's sales channels within the healthcare industry. By identifying healthcare facilities, establishing parent relationships for sales orders, and recognizing global purchasing contracts, the client gained a deeper understanding of their market position and opportunities for expansion. The utilization of Power BI facilitated intuitive data exploration and decision-making, empowering the client to make informed strategic choices to drive business growth
