Tableau Solution for Displaying HIE Records

Project Overview: The project aimed to assist a customer in identifying the most suitable solution among Looker, Microsoft PowerBI, and Tableau for displaying Health Information Exchange (HIE) records to end-users. After thorough analysis and evaluation, Tableau was chosen as the preferred platform. The project then focused on building a comprehensive solution using Tableau, integrated with Experience Cloud and authenticated via OneLogin, ensuring that users access only the appropriate data based on their permissions.

Project Objectives:

  1. Evaluate Looker, Microsoft PowerBI, and Tableau to determine the best fit for displaying HIE records.
  2. Select Tableau as the preferred solution based on analysis and requirements.
  3. Build and implement a Tableau solution integrated with Experience Cloud and authenticated via OneLogin.
  4. Develop a security model with different permission levels to cater to various user roles, including super users.

Project Phases:

  1. Analysis and Evaluation:

    • Conducted an in-depth analysis of Looker, Microsoft PowerBI, and Tableau.
    • Evaluated each platform's features, capabilities, and suitability for displaying HIE records.
    • Gathered requirements from stakeholders to understand their needs and preferences.
  2. Solution Selection:

    • Based on the analysis and requirements, recommended Tableau as the ideal solution.
    • Presented the findings and rationale to the customer for approval.
  3. Design and Planning:

    • Designed the architecture of the Tableau solution, considering integration with Experience Cloud and OneLogin authentication.
    • Planned the implementation approach, including timeline, resource allocation, and milestones.
  4. Development and Integration:

    • Developed Tableau dashboards and reports to visualize HIE records.
    • Integrated Tableau with Experience Cloud to access relevant data.
    • Implemented OneLogin authentication to ensure secure user access.
    • Built a robust security model with different permission levels based on user roles.
  5. Testing and Quality Assurance:

    • Conducted thorough testing of the Tableau solution to ensure functionality, security, and usability.
    • Addressed any issues or bugs identified during testing.
    • Validated data accuracy and consistency across different user roles.
  6. Deployment and User Training:

    • Deployed the Tableau solution to the production environment.
    • Configured Experience Cloud integration and OneLogin authentication in the live environment.
    • Provided comprehensive training to end-users on accessing and using the Tableau solution securely.
  7. Monitoring and Optimization:

    • Monitored the performance and usage of the Tableau solution post-deployment.
    • Gathered feedback from users for further optimization and enhancements.
    • Reviewed and updated the security model as needed based on changing requirements or new user roles.

Project Outcome: The project successfully delivered a Tableau solution integrated with Experience Cloud and authenticated via OneLogin for displaying HIE records to end-users. The solution included a robust security model with different permission levels, ensuring that super users could access data based on their permissions. By selecting Tableau and implementing the solution effectively, the customer achieved their goal of providing a secure and efficient platform for accessing HIE records.
